A Land Between Rivers tells the story of central California between the San Joaquin and Kings Rivers. The history of this part of the San Joaquin Valley, occupied by much of Fresno County, has played a critical role in determining the destiny of both California and the West. It is a story of transformation - from pre-settlement to the Gold Rush to post-war prosperity - where the nexus of land, water, and people seeking a better future have created the most productive agricultural region on earth. The program reveals the human and environmental sacrifices in the shadow of this success, and shows how issues of concern in times past remain relevant today as central California faces the future.

Narrated by Rita Moreno and filmed in high-definition video, A Land Between Rivers uses aerials, archival stills, rare footage, and interviews with long time residents and historians to tell this unique story.

The film was presented by the Fresno Historical Society and funded by the people of Table Mountain Rancheria. Produced by Full Frame Productions.

Running time 57:45. Premiered at the Sacramento Film Festival, A Land Between Rivers was broadcast by the Fresno ABC and PBS stations, as well as KVIE Public Television in Sacramento.
